Rugby Union on the Curragh Clay Pan
School of the Air and Booligal Public School joined forces once again for a brilliant Rugby Union Cluster Day on the Curragh clay pan, two hours North-West of Hay. P-6 students worked with Zac Elliot, Brumbies Junior Development Officer, to learn passing, kicking, evasion and tracking to tag skills.
Students, with the help of their teachers, were split into teams and played a mini non-contact version of Rugby Union. This saw them put all the skills they had learnt together in a fun and safe environment.
Zac had a fantastic time, and whilst he taught students lots about the sport of Rugby Union, he also learned a lot about farm life.
The school community would like to thank Zac for travelling out to Curragh Station and running such as successful day. We would also like to thank Pip and Bill Ryan for hosting at their property.
Home Visits in Full Swing
Lottie and Paddy Ryan also enjoyed a recent home visit from Miss Murphy. The morning was technologically exciting as the children engaged in coding and robotics activities. They learned to code the Micro:bit using their web browser, blocks and javascript to display text, numbers and images.
Japanese was on the menu for lunch and after learning about the culture, Lottie and Paddy made their own delicious tuna and avocado sushi which didn't last long!
The children also learned to draw landscapes using a very old medium, charcoal, and they made clay pots and animals during an art session.
Miss Murphy and Mrs McGufficke are looking forward to visiting more of our students at their properties over the next couple of weeks.
