Term 2 Mini School at Hay SOTA has been action-packed. Students were lucky enough to have a specialist theatre practitioner administer workshops centred around creative and cultural literacy, script writing and analysis, characterisation and performance. Throughout their Dramatic Arts journey, students learned how to ‘walk in the shoes of another', with expanded personal understanding through awareness of empathy and compassion, in the context of 21st century skills.
Coding and Robotics provided children with hands-on opportunities to design, invent and create while solving problems. K-2 students experienced new construction kits and software through building working models of animals, people and cars. Their robots featured sensors that move through drag-and-drop technology. Our Year 3-6 students used their iPads to code LEGO and EV3 robots to go live and follow their every command. All students thoroughly enjoyed races and games of ‘Sphero Soccer'.
Other highlights of the week were folk art and also tennis lessons, focusing on skill development for the younger students and game sense for our older children.
